What will you do?

  • Negotiates contracts on assigned raw materials and vendors.
  • Take ownership and actively manage the specifications, supplier base and contracts for assigned categories or suppliers and ensure contracts are followed for assigned direct materials.
  • Own key supplier relationships and monitor and report supplier performance.
  • Support strategies and approaches to achieve goals set out by local, regional and global management.
  • Establishes, monitors & adjusts when necessary standard prices for all assigned raw materials.
  • Accountable for limiting the price variance as it relates to the raw material budget vs. actual spend.
  • Studies market trends, interviews, researches & audits suppliers & determines those who can supply raw materials on a global &/or local basis at the lowest overall cost to the corporation
  • Provide (monthly) data – current/forecasted prices per category - to support global RM data initiatives including monthly reports and budget impact.
  • Support resolving sourcing operational issues.
  • Partner with Raw Material Technical Group for upstream interaction on procurement of new products, strategic and alternative sources and investigate on further simplification opportunities of tier 2 materials.

What do we look for?

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred; or at least three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous manufacturing related purchasing experience, ideally within the chemical sector.
  • Strong business background, ability to understand customer needs, etc.
  • Regionally relevant professional procurement certification preferred (e.g.; ISM, CIPS)
  • Lean Six Sigma/ Continuous Improvement experience preferred
  • English language skills; written and spoken essential, Dutch is desirable.
