Position Summary:

This is a hybrid role with two main functions.

First, responsibility in this role will be to establish and develop the processes required to perform a proprietary point-of-view (POV) for key raw materials used to produce Quaker Houghton’s products. This market data and analysis function will support our global category procurement strategies. Such models and data analysis will be leveraged to maximize the profitability of each raw material commodity portfolio within the context of the overall business.

The second and more developmental responsibility will be to implement global category strategies to drive best value and optimize supplier performance. Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within assigned categories. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business objectives. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Work willingly and effectively communicates globally as part of the direct procurement team at Quaker Houghton.
  • Independently perform market analysis and develop a proprietary POV for Quaker Houghton’s most critical raw materials which can be used to develop and improve procurement objectives.
  • Create commodity supply/demand forecasts based on tracking current production and consumption and announced and presumed changes in production or consumption capacity.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the price-setting mechanism currently working in the marketplace and the key drivers that could change this, incorporate this into procurement strategy.
  • Develop cost models for purchased raw materials which can be used to quickly leverage suppliers and improve “Should Cost” analysis.
  • Develop an understanding of the secondary and/or related drivers for each commodity (i.e. by-product economics, co-product economics, etc.) and what effect changes in these drivers would have on Quaker Houghton’s supply position.
  • Create, maintain, and coordinate the use of market intelligence and index data used by the procurement team.
  • Assist in research and analysis in areas of direct procurement need including sustainability, alternate materials and arbitrage as part of the raw material POV strategies.
  • Establish a process to deliver updates of the key commodity POV’s on an ongoing basis. Effectively communicate procurement analysis and strategy globally.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within assigned categories.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, chemistry, chemical engineering, economics, statistics, business or finance.
  • 3-9 years’ experience in market analysis within petrochemical industry.
