Position Summary:

Track and monitor actions and results of on-site technical process and product improvement initiatives designed by technical group to achieve customer savings for multiple sites. Directly responsible for implementing project charter and action, managing resources, setting timelines, identifying/closing gaps in schedules, communicating status and ensuring the project achieves desired goals.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Has working knowledge of customer products and processes and seeks opportunities for improving the customer’s processes and their application of Quaker Houghton products.. Knows how and when products and services are used. Interact with customer’s productions and technical personnel and suppliers.
  • Project management - correctly identify the requirement of work to be undertaken as per the project outline and assess the benefit to the business. Develop project plan to include actions and deliverables associated with Quaker Houghton product penetration and process related cost savings and maintain the project database.
  • Provide technical advice to new and existing customers on the proper selection, use and application of Quaker Houghton products. Aid in developing business cases, best practice replication and associated metrics.
  • Conduct on-site surveys of key target accounts to determine fitness-for-use and suitability of Quaker Houghton products and demonstrate as part of the selling process. Program and Site Managers to launch new HFC programs advise on engineering/equipment options. Interface with equipment suppliers and other co-suppliers to develop the best application techniques and procedures for Quaker Houghton products.
  • Acquire, record and analyze process and usage data. Able to recognize and explain the quantifiable benefits of a service or product performance. Report and interpret all results and usage on a daily basis, via report generation; completes corrective action, following proper guidelines.
  • Lead and conduct meetings, anticipate customer requests and needs, deliver concise next steps after reviewing value proposition and best practices.
  • Implement and follow safety protocols, perform pretask plan and all preoperation inspections.
  • Provide troubleshooting support to customers including on-site visits as needed. Establish best practices and standards for execution by customers and/or site employees.
  • Manage the start-up of new customers through transfer of knowledge, training, hands-on demonstrations and on-going monitoring and auditing
  • Provide support to Quaker Houghton research and product development personnel, marketing and management based upon field observations, customer need analysis, data collection and competitive intelligence.
  • Audit new Quaker Houghton program opportunities and write-up projects to include in the value proposition working within parameters of the company’s operations and EHS procedures and specific project requirements. When applicable, understand change of management and risk management protocols.
  • May provide support to Program and Site Managers with respect to vacations or absences.

Work Environment:

Work in an office environment and in a manufacturing environment; may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. May occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and trip and slip hazards. The noise level in the manufacturing environment is loud.
Ensure a safety mindset throughout designated area of responsibility.
Maintain the highest EHS standards while at a customer’s site.
Travel: 50-60% to sites (OH, MI, Canada)

Education, Experience, Skills & Competencies:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or equivalent experience. Knowledge of chemistry or science.

Experience

One to two years related experience in manufacturing, with at least one year in chemical management services or metalworking processes

Skills and Competencies:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Ability to lead and facilitate effective meetings.

Demonstrate basic mathematical skills. Precise and accurate in dealing with figures and details. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, fractions, conversions and proportions. Ability to analyze, evaluate and or produce data such as charts and graphs. Understand various business performance indicators such as P&L statements, Net Present Value and ROI.

Organized and able to organize people and systems to obtain desired results. Able to manage multiple demands, establish priorities and respond to unanticipated situations. Should also be decisive, persuasive, assertive and able to see the big picture. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Must have an extensive working knowledge of: Internet software, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations software, project tracking. Must have working knowledge of: ERP software (order processing, warehousing) and database software.
