Position Summary:

The position will physically acquire samples from customer facilities, and will perform semi-routine and/or moderately complex chemical and physical analyses on a wide variety of materials for the support of technical service, research and production activities.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Visit customer manufacturing facilities on a routine basis to collect samples and provide basic on-site support.
  • Understanding of laboratory tests to be performed on process chemicals/fluids.
  • Adhere to the principles of corporate Quality Systems.
  • Perform lab analysis of field samples.
  • Record and transcribe data in accurate and concise manner.
  • Recognize and react to out of spec data.
  • Assemble, diagnose, and perform basic repair of equipment.
  • Complete assigned work in a timely fashion.
  • Perform new procedures with general supervision.
  • Frequent interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Report data to internal and external customers with possible recommendations.
  • Assist in new employee training
  • Assist more senior level technicians and chemists with method development
  • Support troubleshooting of problems and follow-up with corrective actions.
  • Ensure instruments are calibrated and meet integrity testing
  • Adhere to all lab safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Help keep laboratory clean and all equipment in good working order.


Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 3 years previous lab experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • High school diploma required. BSc preferred.
  • Customer service experience is an asset.
  • Ability to self-direct.
  • Positive team oriented attitude.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Demonstration of solid decision making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a good command of the English language is mandatory.
  • Convey a positive image to new employees and our customers.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to use their personal vehicle to travel to customer sites. Compensation for mileage is provided.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Database software.

Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is often exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The associate must be able to safely work in a variety of potentially hazardous situations. The noise level in the lab work environment is usually moderate. The noise level in the customer facility environment requires the use of hearing protection.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to carefully, and precisely manipulate samples, apparatus, and sensitive instruments. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, or no more than local or country regulations allow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
