Lab Technician III

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of laboratory tests to be performed on process chemicals/fluids.

  • Adhere to the principles of corporate Quality Systems.

  • Perform lab analysis of field samples.

  • Record and transcribe data in accurate and concise manner.

  • Recognize and react to out of spec data.

  • Complete assigned work in a timely fashion.

  • Perform new procedures with general supervision.

  • General laboratory housekeeping duties to keep laboratory clean and all equipment in good working order.

  • Assist other technicians and chemists with day-to day workload and method development

  • Support troubleshooting of problems and follow-up with corrective actions.

  • Ensure instruments are calibrated and meet integrity testing

  • Adhere to all lab safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment.

  • Moderate interaction with internal and external customers.

  • Report data to internal and external customers with possible recommendations.

  • Assemble, diagnose, and perform basic repair of equipment.

  • Occasionally visit customer manufacturing facilities to collect samples and provide basic on-site support.

  • Assist in new employee training

 

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 3 years previous lab experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • High school diploma required. BSc preferred.

  • Customer service experience is an asset.

  • Positive team oriented attitude.

  • Ability to self-direct and take initiative.

  • Reliable attendance.

  • Demonstration of solid decision making skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a good command of the English language is mandatory.

  • Convey a positive image to new employees and our customers.

  • Must have a valid driver's license for Ontario.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have good command of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Database software.

Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is sometimes exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The associate must be able to safely work in a variety of potentially hazardous situations. The noise level in the lab work environment is usually moderate. The noise level in a customer facility environment requires the use of hearing protection.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to carefully, and precisely manipulate samples, apparatus, and sensitive instruments. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, or no more than local or country regulations allow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
