Position Overview

The Operations Manager leads SIFCO ASC’s North American Operations in accordance with SIFCO ASC’s improvement targets and long-term objectives. Oversee multiple departments within Operations including: Solutions Manufacturing, Shipping & Receiving, Purchasing & Planning, Engineering, and four service shop locations for performing the SIFCO Process of Selective Electroplating on a contract basis (located in Ohio, Connecticut, Texas, and Virginia). The role is an active member and contributor to business Management Team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Strive for continuous improvement regarding safety, quality, productivity, rework, sustainability, scrap, inventory turns, material costs, overtime reduction, and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop and standardize appropriate manufacturing processes, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Recruit, hire, retain, motivate, and lead an Operations team.
  • Perform labor and equipment capacity planning to support sales forecasts and the Annual Plan.
  • Plan, Create, and Submit Capital Improvement Expense (CAPEX) projects that support SIFCO ASC continuous improvement and long-term objectives.
  • Ensure all SIFCO ASC facilities are operated in a clean and safe manner. Comply with all OSHA requirements. Work with EHS and Maintenance, to support facilities management and maintenance activities.
  • Manage the company’s Engineering team and efforts to include for existing product and new product development, and responsible for various engineering projects, processes and timelines.
  • Works collaboratively with customers, vendors and company Sales Team to meet customer needs and expectations on all Contract Services and Engineered Product Offerings.
  • Plan, Create, and Monitor budgets for each department/location and implement corrective actions when necessary to stay within budget.
  • Act as an Emergency Coordinator for the OH facility.
  • Participate in Job Pricing activities with the Sales team for Service quotations.
  • Perform contract review for new Service orders to verify terms and conditions as well as agreement with the scope of work outlined in the quotation.
  • Perform Gross Margin Analysis on completed Service jobs each month and communicate with Operations and Sales teams the results.
  • Learn and Work in MS Dynamics GP (ERP system) to back up Managers and Supervisors as well as be able to gather data and information to support Operations and Management teams.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Business or Engineering undergraduate degree. Advanced degree, such as MBA, considered a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years operations management experience in a multi-facility manufacturing environment. Strong planning, analysis, organization, and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office
  • Must have hands-on experience with basic machine shop equipment, be able to construct and decipher part and assembly drawings, solid models and assemblies.
  • Demonstrated advanced experience in 2D & 3D CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar).
  • Strong analytical, math and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States due to ITAR regulations based upon work performed by company.

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Familiar with electrochemistry and plating processes
  • Familiar with project management and ERP software

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel by car, plane, or train, both domestically and internationally, including regular travel to three service shops outside of Ohio.
  • Exposure to noise and chemicals consistent with a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stay alert in meetings for long periods of time.
