Position Summary:

As an Americas Regional Sr. Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for managing sourcing activities within raw material categories across the Americas region. Your primary goal is to drive scale and standardization, maximize value, reduce overall costs, and improve the quality of goods purchased across all raw material categories.

In this role, you will serve as the business regional focal point for your all raw material categories, ensuring that the sourcing strategy aligns with global category managers, business, and other stakeholders. You will develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers in the region, negotiate and finalize contracts to increase value while mitigating risks acceptably. This individual is responsible for integrating raw material purchases for our specialty businesses.

Additionally, you will analyze, understand, and interpret market dynamics, trends, and drivers, as well as maintain supplier databases. As a team leader, you will manage a sizeable team consisting of local category managers and Senior Sourcing Specialists, driving regional raw material synergy across countries such as United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for managing higher-complexity regional raw material category with a spend of up to USD $350 MM
  • Support the development and execution of value-optimal category strategies that appropriately balance security of supply, cost, and other value factors
  • Develop, maintain, and manage a supplier base that offers optimal quality, service, technology, and value
  • Support negotiation and implementation of supply agreements that include ideal terms
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with key suppliers to advance supplier-supported company objectives, develop supplier capabilities, address gaps in supplier performance
  • In collaboration with the BUs, Technology, and/or other functional stakeholders, develop and continuously evolve a cost savings/productivity plan for the category that includes a pipeline of new ideas, in-process projects, and projects accruing savings in support of exceeding annual savings goals
  • Develop and effectively utilize should-cost models, market intelligence, and other value analysis tools to place the company in the best possible value position in the respective market
  • Effectively address all supplier performance failures via the root cause and corrective action process, successfully levying claims, and other tactics as appropriate
  • Develop and implement supply category strategies, applying best-in-class procurement processes and technology, managing special projects, driving procurement/supplier initiatives. The end result is to meet product, service, quality and overall supply requirements, and achieving cost savings objectives
  • Ensure the team / you develop and execute RFPs/RFIs
  • Develop, execute and manage supplier contracts and agreements in line with QH DOA
  • Provide leadership to drive continuous improvement in spend management processes and implemented tactics to drive compliance across the company
  • Continually develop strong relationships with internal business partners across the company and stay connected with their individual business strategies and needs
  • Execute the defined strategic sourcing process and drive utilization of tools and techniques aligned with the process framework and architecture
  • Develop deep expertise in the spend category, shares and transfers expertise to global category managers and regional sourcing professionals. Is business focal point contact for category.
  • Responsible for compliance with legal requirements, and with Company Procedures and policies (SOX, Quality, etc). Works with local sourcing professionals to ensure alignment with local regulations, restrictions, supply chain requirements Develop and maintain company sourcing methodology and tools
  • Work effectively across business units with different objectives in the creation and implementation of procurement strategies for complex spend categories
  • Develop and lead a substantial team, comprising category managers and senior sourcing specialists, to cultivate their skills in strategic sourcing and improve the standardization of sourcing approaches. Ensure the team adheres strictly to the global procurement policy.
  • Responsible for managing raw material cost savings and overseeing all procurement KPIs for the Americas region. Serve as the primary contact for the global direct procurement team.
  • Collaborate closely with the supplier development team to discover new vendors that can meet regional and global cost-saving requirements. Investigate all possibilities for sourcing raw materials from other regions.
  • Assess the current state of the Americas procurement organization and collaborate with the Americas procurement director to advance its structure to the next level, establishing a genuine regional category management organization. Coordinate seamlessly with the global team to ensure the global procurement operating model operates efficiently.
  • Investigate procurement digitalization opportunities, such as e-Sourcing and e-Auctions, and pilot e- Sourcing initiatives for select raw materials within the Americas region.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher education in Business, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in purchasing commodities or services within the chemical industry or a similar sector is required; Master's preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in procurement experience. Ideally someone with experience in Americas and global sourcing, demonstrating a successful history in formulating and implementing supplier sourcing strategies and programs, including supplier partnership/alliance concepts. People management experience is essential, along with experience in sourcing raw materials (with global experience being advantageous).
  • At least 3 years working in supply chain, engineering, or an operations function. (cross functional experience within the operations umbrella).
  • Demonstrated experience managing strategy programs through a transformation.
