Coordinates the activities of maquiladores in Mexico to ensure that product orders are delivered on time, on specification, and at an optimal cost. Manages optimal inventory levels at QH stores in Mexico, maquiladoras, and/or external warehouses, to ensure adequate customer service within the company's working capital objectives. Manages the planning process directly for imported products and maquiladoras, as well as support with manufacturing sites. Leads supply chain improvement activities and projects involving maquiladoras, inventories and planning processes, seeking to reduce costs, improve service and operational efficiency. He supports the North American supply chain team in solving problems that affect activities in the region.

 

Education:

  • Studies in engineering, industrial management, or related to supply chain, at the standard level acquired in a university program or its equivalent, with technical disciplines and emphasis on logistics being the preference.

 

Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in chemical manufacturing and/or technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably JDE.
  • Communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Proactivity, discipline and work ethic.
  • Experience in process mapping and optimization.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).

 

Routine Functions

  • Works with the responsible teams and personnel to ensure adequate manufacturing capacity of maquiladores in Mexico, in accordance with the strategic plan, which includes the approval of new maquiladores as applicable.
  • Leads the resolution of problems related to raw materials, or any other operational problem with maquiladores to ensure optimal costs and prevent delays.
  • Performs the necessary configuration and transactions in JDE which include: new ITEM # ´s, BOM ´s and process paths. Compile, manage, and report manufacturing and inventory data with maquiladoras.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with clients to meet their expectations.
  • Investigate billing discrepancies and documentation in general with maquiladoras.
  • Supports the generation and maintenance of records with maquiladores for compliance with ISO systems and SOX requirements.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance with all applicable documentation for orders processed in maquiladoras.
  • Supports the import and export processes of materials as required.
  • Analyze and take action on slow-moving and obsolete inventory according to the policies established by the company for all QH sites in Mexico.
  • Manage the optimal inventory levels at QH sites in Mexico according to the organization's objectives.
  • Monitor performance by tracking costs and other metrics based on applicable frequency, investigate and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Supports the implementation of policies, procedures, and recommended improvements applicable to maquiladores and external warehouses.
  • Supports audits and scheduled visits to maquiladores and external warehouses to ensure compliance with contracted commitments, as well as adequate environmental and safety practices.
  • Supports maquila rate negotiations, including bid package preparation activities.
